Introduction

Since its formation the AIDA Working Party on State Supervision of Insurance has usually staged meetings once a year.

Over the past few years the regulatory field has become more and more important for the insurance and reinsurance industry and has even gained special momentum due to the financial crisis in 2008/2009. It no longer suffices to look at individual countries on a national basis. Instead international and transcontinental comparisons of regulatory systems are necessary. The need for such studies is also immediate since very few comparative-law studies regarding insurance supervisory law exist. The promotion of such research can be assumed to be the key purpose of this working party.
