Seccion Uruguaya de la Asociación Internacional de Derecho de Seguros – AIDA Uruguay 

AIDA Uruguayan Section

The Uruguayan Section of AIDA was constituted in 1962 by an outstanding group of legal professionals, in accordance with the objectives of AIDA International, in pursuit of the promotion and improvement of the laws and activity of insurance in the country. 

It is therefore one of the oldest sections that were created to strengthen and spread the aims of AIDA International.

In recognition of its work and its dedication over time, AIDA Uruguay has for many years had a representative serving on the Presidential Council of AIDA International. Esc. Alfonso Puig served in this role for several years. Currently it is Dr Andrea Signorino who, between 2014 and 2018, presided over the CILA Latin American Committee of AIDA.

The Uruguayan National Section organizes annual academic activities - Seminars, Conferences, Courses, and Workshops - with the participation of outstanding national and foreign professionals to discuss different topics of insurance, contributing to the training of all those related to the insurance activity.

In this context, AIDA Uruguay has been fulfilling its objective of promoting Insurance Law in Uruguay and aspires to continue doing so, committing all its efforts to increase awareness about insurance in the country.

The Section has a website which all are encouraged to visit – www.aidauruguay.org.uy – which contains more institutional information and especially the exhibitions and presentations of the academic events held to date.

Governance

The Uruguayan Section of AIDA is a non-profit civil association whose purpose is to study, research and debate Insurance Law, also developing an active international collaboration in this area.

The Association is directed by a Board of Directors.

In 2018 AIDA JOVEN (Young AIDA) was created within the scope of the Uruguayan section of AIDA with its own first Committee also appointed.
