From the early days of the first national lockdown in England, widespread concerns over many different types of insurance claims had been raised.

On Friday 15 January 2021 the UK Supreme Court handed down Financial Conduct Authority v Arch Insurance and Others, its much anticipated judgment on the operation of business interruption policies in the face of a pandemic.

 It has been announced that the UK Supreme Court will deliver its judgement in the FCA BI Test case on Friday 15 January 2021 at 09:45hrs

It is with great pleasure that the admission of AIDA Luxembourg as the latest AIDA National Chapter is announced, bringing the total number of AIDA National Chapters to 42, together with six affiliated ARIAS societies.

 On 2 November, the Supreme Court granted permission for an appeal by the FCA, six insurers (Arch, Argenta, Amlin, Hiscox, QBE and Royal & Sun Alliance) and the Hiscox Action Group, as Intervener. The appeal will be heard in the Supreme Court from 16 November and is expected to last for 4 days.

 The Editorial Board of the AIDA Europe Research Series on Insurance Law & Regulation is now again inviting the submission of academic papers, this time examining problems concerning environmental risks and insurance

 On 2 October 2020 Lord Justice Flaux and Mr Justice Butcher made various orders consequential upon their judgment in the FCA test case.

 There has already been much discussion of the content of the High Court judgment in the FCA Test Case and news of what follows now.
