The German Association for Insurance Science

The German Association for Insurance Science is AIDA’s National Section in Germany.

Founded in 1899, the German Association for Insurance Science, a non-profit organization, has nearly 1,200 corporate and personal members - experts from the fields of universities and insurance practice, from insurance supervision and jurisprudence, the legislative bodies, association and consumer protection organizations and liberal professions. The activities of this scientific society extend to

  • the organization of scientific events, annual conferences and symposia;
  • the publication of the Journal of Insurance Science (Zeitschrift für die gesamte Versicherungswissenschaft) as a print and online medium;
  • the maintenance of a specialized library for all insurance disciplines – in particular insurance law, insurance industry, insurance mathematics, insurance medicine and social insurance;
  • a programme for interdisciplinary insurance research projects with the support of the German Insurance Association (Gesamtverband der Deutschen Versicherungswirtschaft e.V. – GDV).
