Presentation Overview:

Please join us for an insightful presentation of captive insurance led by industry expert Robert Geraghty, along with Marsh colleagues Stephen Morton and Maureen Gorman.  The presentation aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of captives and their relevance in the insurance industry. Attendees will be introduced to the concept of captive insurance and its purpose in risk management. They will learn about the benefits of utilizing captive insurance, such as cost savings, broader coverage, increased control over risk management, and potential access to capacity. Different types of risk retention vehicles, including single-parent captives and protected cells, will be discussed, highlighting their unique features and suitability for different organizations. The presentation will also cover the various lines of business that can be covered by captive insurance, such as property and casualty, employee benefits, and professional liability. Attendees will gain insights into the selection of domiciles for captive insurance companies, considering factors such as regulatory environment, capital, experience, speed to market and infrastructure. The steps involved in establishing a captive insurance company, including the importance of a captive feasibility study and the necessary steps and timeline for setting up a captive, will be outlined. Additionally, the presentation will highlight the owners and industries that commonly utilize captives, including legal firms, and the benefits they derive from them.

Robert Geraghty - International Sales and Consulting Leader, Marsh Captive Solutions (based in London)

Rob leads the Sales and Consulting team across the International region for the largest captive manager in the world. He propels growth in consulting and captive management across Europe, the Middle East and Asia-Pacific. Formerly Marsh Bermuda's Business Development Leader, he has also consulted and managed captives in Ireland, Gibraltar, and London. Rob has established and worked with some of the largest captive and commercial carriers worldwide, boasting Marsh CEO recognition and a spot in Captive International's "Forty Under 40" list (June 2023). His expertise spans insurance company formation, structure, strategy, and management, delivering comprehensive services to captives.

Stephen Morton - Managing Director,  Senior Client Advisor, Financial and Professional Practice (FINPRO)

Stephen leads the London arm of the FINPRO Retail Global Professions Practice. He has over 20 years of experience with Marsh specifically focused on professional liability insurance lines for international firms headquartered in London. He sits on the Marsh FINPRO innovation group and has direct experience working with the panel of speakers establishing and running captive programmes for global professional service firms. In addition, Stephen is a consultant on professional indemnity insurance to both the Solicitors Regulation Authority and the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.

Maureen Gorman - Managing Director,  Senior Client Advisor, Financial and Professional Practice (FINPRO)

In her role as a Client Advisor, Maureen's area of focus is Professional Services firms supporting many of the largest and most complex captive programs. Maureen is Marsh FINPRO's Center of Influence Leaders and FINPRO Climate & Sustainability Influencer leader. Previous to Marsh, Maureen was with Guy Carpenter, in the Alternative Reinsurance Solutions group and she managed the West Coast Casualty Facultative operation. Prior to that, she was a Reinsurance Underwriter for Swiss Re North America.  She began her career at The Travelers Insurance Company where she was an Account Executive in the Special Accounts Marketing group focusing on complex casualty insurance.
